LETTER: Re-elect Colin Hickey ‘so he can continue doing even more’

TO THE EDITOR: I see Bedminster Township Committeeman Colin Hickey every week at the municipality’s farmers market, where he spends his Saturdays directing traffic with charm and efficiency, making everyone feel welcome.

I am impressed not only by his willingness to give up his free time on such a regular basis, but also with what he has achieved for the community on a larger scale, particularly with the utilities.

He is up for re-election this fall, and I hope voters understand how much he has done for the township and will continue doing if they give him another term on the governing body.

His efforts include working with Jersey Central Power & Light to secure a $3 million investment in local infrastructure improvements that prevent power outages, and pursuing the same type of approach with New Jersey American Water for an investment in local infrastructure.

He also has had success with the local cable provider, to make sure homes in the township are upgraded to a fiber optic connection.

The committeeman is involved in other projects as well, all with a focus on the township budget to maintain the lowest average municipal tax rate in Somerset County.

I admire his dedication, and his wish to be re-elected so he can continue doing even more on behalf of Bedminster residents.
